For eighteen years, Christine worked as a Veterinary Nurse, a job she loved, but she found herself becoming increasingly concerned by the amount of drugs routinely prescribed to animals.
Concluding that there must be a better way, Christine decided to train as a homeopath.
My second year at college is going very well and I’m learning so much. We have studied many subjects so far including:
• The three Miasms
• Immune pathology
• Arthritis and treatment
• The Endocrine System
• Mercury
• Helios Homeopathic pharmacy
• Iodum
• Thymus Gland
• Throidinum
I have been so busy the last few months that I am behind on the homework and writing up cases. I’m busy with work and I have a family as well so fitting it all in does become difficult. We also must write a monthly student journal over 3yrs, which a diary of your journey to becoming a homeopath. It is great to record your journey as you change so much in 3yrs.
I am seeing patients now regularly at student clinics, which is proving to be a huge learning experience. I am also amazed how quickly the patients are improving with homeopathic treatment.
While studying to be a homeopath I have been working as a Veterinary Nurse. I decided it was time to move on from this job and move into a job that will help my career. I now work at a homeopathic pharmacy making remedies and giving acute advice to members of the public. My decision to change professions has been the best decision I have made. I was unhappy in my old job, and this new job means I am now learning so much while I’m still working. I am working with homeopaths and pharmacists that have so much knowledge that everyday is a learning experience.
This is my first student diary entry, so I wanted to explain my reason for choosing to study homeopathy.
For many years I took allopathic medicine for various complaints, but over the years I noticed these drugs just suppressed my illness, and I would always get the condition or complaint back again. I used to ask doctors for alternatives, and I was told there wasn’t anything else I could take. I felt hopeless that there must be something else that could help me? I found homeopathy through recommendation and went to see a homeopath, and it worked so well on my children and I that the rest is history. I have used homeopathy for 14yrs for myself and my 2 sons for acute conditions, and regularly seeing a homeopath for constitutional treatment.
I have worked as a Veterinary Nurse for 18yrs and have loved the job, but the problem I have found is the animals are prescribed allopathic medicine. These drugs are from pharmaceutical companies, and just like human medicine these drugs suppress the disease, so it is not a long-term cure. It gets frustrating working in this environment, and I started realising that I needed to think about working in a different profession
In 2016 I decided I wanted to train to be a homeopath, as I wanted to work with people to support their health and help them heal from chronic disease.
I found the ‘Southern College of Homeopathy’ and decided to join this college as it was one weekend a month. This was manageable with my current job, and I would get to meet like minded people, be in a classroom setting, and meet lots of homeopaths.
I have now completed my first year, and have started my 2nd year.
