Homeopathy Course:

Type of Course:
Three year, part time, attendance practitioner course.
One year foundation, part time, attendance home prescriber course.
One year post graduate, part time, attendance course.

Cost: Three year practitioner and Foundation courses, £2,300 per annum if fees are paid in total by the start of college, £2,400 if fees are paid in 10 monthly instalments.
Post graduate course, £800 if fees are paid in total by the start of course, £850 if fees are paid in 10 monthly instalments.

What other expenses are to be expected?
Books, a minimum of £250
(Supervision, by CVH tutors, of 10 patients’ cases, over 3 years, included in fees)
Students have to acquire 20 – 30 hours of sitting in with/observing at least 2 qualified and registered homeopaths, this may incur expenses.

What do you consider to be the main strengths of your course?

Our curriculum ensures a balance of practical and theory.
Casework, CVH’s courses revolve around practical application of treating patients alongside a solid understanding of philosophy and the principles of homeopathy. CVH offers a thorough grounding in all aspects of case work from taking a case, chronic and acute, analysis, choosing appropriate methods, Repertorisation to prescription.
Individual supervision from experienced homeopaths.
High quality teaching from our permanent tutor team, all of whom are experienced practitioners and lecturers whose aim is to inspire students, support them in developing their individual style as a homeopathic practitioner and enable them to understand how they can reach their full potential.
We value each student’s unique life experience, recognising that it is the combination of every individual’s contribution that enriches the learning for all.

What different learning styles are offered and how are they supported?

Auditory: Verbal presentation-tutor and own, recordings of training sessions, discussion, sounds, videos, group work, clinics.
Linguistic: Handouts, written home works, discussions, own presentations, clinics.
Kinaesthetic: Environment, how the training rooms are set up and feeling physically comfortable is important to them. Handle objects/models that relate to subject. Role play. Clinics. Field trips. Physical activities.
Visual: Pictures, symbols, mind maps, diagrams, videos, handouts. Clinics: At the beginning of a course CVH helps students to discover their preferred learning style through examples and a questionnaire, this helps them develop a learning strategy and the college notes this in case there is any need for extra learning support.CVH offers attendance courses which tend to suit Field-dependent/ Social/Interpersonal people however the small group sizes (no more than 8) would be comfortable for Field-independent/ Solitary/Intrapersonal learners.

Tutors are aware of their preferred learning style and how this influences the way in which they naturally facilitate their sessions so that they ensure they bring a balance of learning styles by attempting to use a variety of materials and delivery methods:

Learning styles are only one of a range of factors determining how students react to learning opportunities – environment, teaching methods and curriculum requirements are all part of a complex pattern of interactions.

How is clinical training delivered and when do students start to see patients?

Clinical training is mainly delivered at CVH’s on site low cost clinic where we have a room for consultations and one for supervision and group discussion. Patients are seen by a 2nd, 3rd year or post graduate student with another student from the 1st year upwards or a supervisor observing. Students new to the clinic participate in the group discussions around case analysis and prescribing then as they gain experience progress to being an observer and when ready they will have their own clinic patients. Students begin attending the college low cost clinics in the middle of their first year.

There are also opportunities for students of all years to book their own clients in on non CVH clinic days if they wish to have a supervisor observe and support the case taking process then receive one to one supervision and feedback.

Students have to have at least 20 hours sitting in with a qualified, registered homeopath by the end of the three year course.

How are students supported during their training and beyond?

CVH has an open door policy during training weekends; alongside this we are available via email, phone and arranged face to face meetings. There are two feedback and pastoral support meetings per year for each student. We consider it of the upmost importance that students inform us of any lifestyle changes and personal issues that may impact on their ability to successfully complete their course or if they are having difficulty with any aspect of the course. We generally find that a resolution can be found to the majority of challenges.
Graduates are considered part of our college community and as such are welcome to join clinics for their ongoing support and as mentors, keep in touch via email and phone, and come along to college social events and graduations. CPD days are offered at a 50% discount to graduates. Information sheets and updates are sent out to all graduates on a regular basis. The college periodically emails graduates to find out how they are getting on and to ask if they wish for additional support in any way.
Graduates are advised to join a professional body such as the ARH.

How do students develop the skills to balance and maintain their own health and wellbeing, whilst functioning as an effective practitioner?

Throughout the whole three year course there are sessions that specifically explore what each student needs to be able to create healthy boundaries and skills, both personally and professionally, along with lifestyles that support their wellbeing. Through peer group discussion, one to one supervision and self-reflection they are encouraged to continuously reassess these to enable them to enjoy a good work/life balance which in turn will support them in being an efficient and effective homeopath.

We see success in practice as enhancing a homeopath’s life on all levels, by supporting them to meet their own needs physically, emotionally and spiritually this in turn enables them to offer high quality homeopathy to their patients.

How is progress assessed?

CVH does not have exams but has continuous assessment. Progress is assessed through class participation, tutor and peer group feedback, home work, case studies and own presentations.

How are your teachers supported and enabled to teach well?

Tutors attend CPD days at CVH for free.
Tutor training and develop meetings are held twice a year.
The principal has one to one discussions with each tutor several times a year, these range from supervision, planning and further development of their teaching sessions, to feedback from them regarding students and the college, feedback to them from students and their colleagues.
Tutor meetings, where we share and discuss information in regard to the continuous evolving of the college on all levels.
